State False Claim Acts

Whistleblower Proection Attorneys

In order to combat fraud and illegal activities, many states have opted to supplement the Federal False Claims Act with their own state-specific False Claims Act. If you have questions about pursuing a qui tam action in any of these states, contact the attorneys of Begelman, Orlow & Melletz today.

Like the federal False Claims Act, state False Claim Acts provide a financial incentive for whistleblowers to report companies and individuals who have cheated or bilked state agencies or programs. State False Claim Acts allows ordinary citizens to sue on behalf of the state to recover state funds or property which were stolen or fraudulently obtained.

The New Jersey False Claims Act went into effect in 2008 and imposes liability for individuals and companies who present a false claim for goods or services to the state of New Jersey agency, or otherwise defraud the state.

If you have questions about your rights as a whistleblower or pursuing a qui tam action in New Jersey or any of the states listed below, contact the whistleblower protection attorneys of Begelman, Orlow & Melletz today.
